AJL Surplus, Chef Chang score wins in Cecaba tilt

PAUL Martin Gabatan and Howard Haw carried their respective teams to victories last Thursday in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 14th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.

Gabatan finished with 35 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead Batch 1990s/2001-AJL Surplus to a 71-62 win over Batch 1998-Kaking, while Haw tallied 21 points, six rebounds, two steals and two assists in powering Batch 2007-Chef Chang to a 74-44 thrashing of Batch 1987/2000s-Vancere Toys.

Tommy Yu scored 11 points and Norman Lopez added 10 for Batch 1990s/2001, which tallied its eighth win in 12 games.

Batch 1998 slumped to its seventh defeat in 11 outings, putting to waste the monster effort of Robinson Yap, who piled up 16 markers, 11 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks
Rex Millan added 12 points, Santos Chua contributed 10.

Batch 2007, on the other hand, also drew a solid game from Juan Carlo Espada as he collected 15 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals.
