A rookie policeman faces dismissal and administrative charges after pointing a gun to a taxi driver last Sunday midnight in barangay Labangon Cebu City.

Chief Supt. Prudencio Tom Bañas, regional director of the Police Regional Office Central Visayas (PRO-7) told reporters yesterday that acting PNP chief Leonardo Espina personally texted him to investigate the issue.

PO1 Joseph Alber, who is assigned in Oslob police, was allegedly drunk when he rode the taxi driven by Victor Patoria.

He allegedly acted rude and pointed his service firearm, a 9mm pistol to the driver, once inside the cab.

Patoria immediately sought the help of police personnel coming from Cebu City Mobile Patrol Group (MPG) who responded and brought Alber for temporary detention at the Punta Princesa police precinct.

Alber tested positive of liquor use after he was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC). Punta Princesa police said the suspect already posted bail while the taxi driver showed no interest in pursuing the case
