Teen killed in stabbing outside a ‘disco’ in Cordova, Cebu

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – A 17-year-old boy died, and his companion was injured in a stabbing incident outside a disco in Barangay Ibabao, Cordova town, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, around midnight.
The victim, a resident of the area, was killed while another minor was injured.
According to Police Staff Sergeant Esmael Limpangog of the Cordova Police Station, the suspect, 24-year-old Jimboy Inoc Gonzaga from Purok Caimito, Barangay Cogon, became angry with the victim’s companion after they danced with his girlfriend.
The suspect waited outside and stabbed the victim’s companion in the face.

Another friend of the victim witnessed the attack and confronted the suspect. During the confrontation, the suspect fell, and the friend tried to hit him with a rock.
When the victim saw this, he grabbed his companion to stop him.
The suspect took the opportunity to stab the victim’s companion but accidentally stabbed the victim in the chest.
The suspect immediately fled and hid at his girlfriend’s house, where he was arrested.
The police are now preparing charges of murder and attempted murder against the suspect of the stabbing incident in Cordova. /clorenciana
