In preparation for the opening of classes on June 1, the 65 branches of CitySavings Bank participated in this year’s Brigada Eskwela, reaching out to a total of 177 public schools nationwide.
The bank joined the Department of Education (DepEd) and local government units during the launching of the program last May 18.
Out of the 177 public schools, 99 were from Luzon, 59 in Visayas and 19 from Mindanao.
More than 600 CitySavings team members and volunteers did repainting as well as minor repairs to school buildings and facilities.
A teacher from Bitlang Integrated School in a mountain barangay in Cebu City said, “Salamat sa CitySavings kay bisan layo amo skwelahan, inyo mi gianhi ug gitabangan (Thank you, CitySavings, because despite our school’s remote location, you came here and helped).”
In Davao City, Leon Garcia Sr. National High School principal Welito Rosal said, “We are blessed to have been a beneficiary of CitySavings this year. This is of great help to the students and the school.”
“It’s the first time for CitySavings to be one of our stakeholders in our Brigada Eskwela. We are very happy and thankful for their generous donation,” said Benzon German, principal of Comembo
Elementary School in Makati City.
