Labella wants barangays to resolve land dispute

CEBU City Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella wants the barangay chairpersons of Mambaling and Basak San Nicolas to resolve their land dispute amicably.

Barangay Mambaling passed a resolution to the City Council asking them to resolve the dispute after establishments in San Nicolas paid fees and permits.

Labella said while the Local Government Code (LGC) authorizes the council to settle boundary disputes, he prefers that the two barangays settle it among themselves first.

“I would rather that the barangay officials look into possible areas of agreement for a settlement of the dispute before having this case investigated by or docketed as a boundary dispute case,” the vice mayor said.
