WITH 10 days left before the big day, the “Hunat Sugbu V: Dagan Para Ni Maning” has already attracted 951 registrants for the June 21 race slated at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.
Nick Nacorda, Cebu Parklane International Hotel’s head of security and one of the organizers of the run, said that as of Tuesday, they have already gathered 951 runners where 339 are enlisted in the energy-sapping 21-kilometer half marathon and 249 in the 12k. Some 157 early birds will vie in the 6k while 206 are entered in the 3k.
Organizers expect to draw 2,000 runners in the fifth edition of the run which pays tribute to Cebu Parklane International Hotel’s owner Manuel Ting who was slain in 2010 and hopes to raise funds for the hotel’s medical mission in partnership with the Iesu Christi Community.
This year’s theme “Because I Can” aims to inspire more people to try running and get its healthy benefits.
Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (Safe) will handle the run’s technical needs.
A total of P120,000 in cash will be given to the Top 3 men and women in the 3K, and to the Top 5 men and women in the 12K and 21K. All 12K and 21K finishers will also receive medals.
Registration fee is P700 for the 21k race, P600 for the 12k, P450 for the 6k and P350 for the 3k and registration can be had at the Active Zone of Ayala Center Cebu, Parklane Hotel lobby and at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).
