4:15 p.m.- Blackwater vs. Talk ’N Text
7:00 p.m.- GlobalPort vs. NLEX
BREAKING free from their struggles will be the mission for these four slumping squads in today’s Independence Day presentation of the 40th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
The highly-touted Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters battle the lowly Blackwater Elite in the first game, while the GlobalPort Batang Pier take on the NLEX Road Warriors in the main match.
Today’s protagonists are on losing streaks.
Talk ‘N Text is one of the pre-tournament favorites but has uncharacteristically struggled, winning just three of its first eight games and has lost its last four games.
The Tropang Texters are in a precarious situation as it is tied with the Barangay Ginebra Kings for the ninth and 10th spots.
Tournament format states that the number nine to 12 teams after the eliminations will be booted out.
Losing its last three games, Blackwater is at last spot with a 1-6 (win-loss) card.
At 11th spot are the Road Warriors, who sport a 2-6 record.
NLEX is coming off a 102-106 loss to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in a game that saw them battling back from a 29-point deficit.
The Road Warriors stared at a huge 55-84 deficit late in the third quarter but staged a daring fightback to tie the contest at 91 late in the fourth.
The rally eventually fell short, denying NLEX what could have been an amazing fightback.
GlobalPort, on the other hand, is in a three-way tie with Rain or Shine and Meralco for the fifth to seventh spots with similar 4-4 cards.
The Batang Pier are on a two-game slide.
