By: PR June 17,2015 - 06:47 AM

Three-hundred fifty elementary school pupils from barangays Villahermosa and Mabunao in Tabuelan town, northwest Cebu received school supplies and dental kits from The Dream Big Project last June 7.

Each gift pack contains notebooks, paper, pens, pencils, drawing book, crayons, toothbrush and toothpaste
Two military trucks provided by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) 3rd Civil Relations Group and 5th Special Forces were deployed to transport the goods and the 20 volunteers.

The Dream Big Project, a Cebu-based youth group, aims to help every child achieve quality education.

The highlights of the activity were the demonstrations on proper methods of toothbrushing and hand-washing by the volunteers.

The outreach activity started with motivational games like “paper dance” and “bring me.”

“The outreach program opened us to the reality of rural areas and communities still isolated from progress. It is our social responsibility to reach out to them and help them. We’re supporting the cause of The Dream Big Project because it addresses access of younger generation to better education,” said JM Libero, assistant sales manager of Author Solutions. His team is among the donors and volunteers of the activity.

Last May 17, The Dream Big Project together with the AFP and Teach Peace, Build Peace Movement – Cebu Chapter also distributed 300 sets of educational supplies and hygiene kits in barangays Tag-amakan, Tagbubunga, and Saksak in the neighboring town of Asturias.

Future initiatives designed for the beneficiaries to also start their own community outreach activities will also be conducted.

These activities include mentoring programs, literacy enhancement and the construction of a mini-library.
