By: Bernard Julius Labalan June 17,2015 - 06:44 AM

THE Run 2 Plant project of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. will simultaneously be held in 44 municipalities and six component cities of Cebu on June 27.

More than 100,000 representatives from the academe, local government units, the Department of Education, Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD), Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Philippine Navy are expected to participate in this annual event, which aims to raise awareness on disaster risk reduction and climate change and to commemorate the Philippine Environment Month.

Gov. Hilario Davide III issued Executive Order No. 07 requesting all the local government units in Cebu to conduct their own Run 2 Plant project.

In Talisay City, the Run 2 Plant will be held in barangay Jaclupan. Assembly time is at 5 a.m. at the Jaclupan barangay hall. At 5:30 a.m.,  participants will start running for about one kilometer from the barangay hall to the planting site, which is near the watershed where MCWD takes its water source.

The event is open to everybody. Interested participants may visit their respective town halls to register or call RAFI at 418-7234. Some provinces of Mindanao will also simultaneously hold their own Run 2 Plant on the same date.
