Metrosports badminton winners bared

THE DUO OF ALJO Patalinghug and Tricia Merced crushed the pair of Jed Sumalinog and Hazel Libato, 21-14, 21-7, last Saturday to win the mixed doubles CD title of the Metro Sports Summer Badminton Tournament at the Metro Sports Center in Lahug, Cebu City.

The tournament had a total of 13 categories for both female and male smashers.

In the executive men’s doubles competition, Bobby Villareal and Juvey Veloso  emerged champions as they defeated Adonis Castanares and Bong Ras, 8-21, 21-17, 21-12.

Men’s doubles C champions were Dodie Sertan and Rodil Bartolome of the Air Force Group, who beat Fritz Sagaad and Harvey Tungul of the Southwestern University, 10-21, 21-18, 21-14.

In the Men’s doubles E category, Jeho Ramos and Deck Mark Boquingkito from Dumaguete downed the pair of Richie Asignar and Reymond Grengia, 21-17, 21-15.

Connie Recio and Mae Calma outplayed  Hazel Libato and Jo-ann Francisco of Poonazone, 21-14, 21-11, for the Ladies doubles E title.

Men’s doubles D champions were Lyric Roma and EJ Arquillano, who won over Marco Aranas and Jaydee Aganan, 21-15, 21-13.

Other winners were Manny Mendoza and Connie Recio of the Air Force Group (mixed doubles E), Reymond Grengia and Ban Enrick Mamboyo from Compostela (men’s doubles F), Brandon Descaya

and Diane Angeles of Poonazone (mixed  doubles F), James Carl Capin and Matt Cyril Bisnar from Danao City (men’s doubles G), and Michael Roca and Nicole Licoto (mixed doubles G).
