A 43-YEAR-OLD man was killed and a 23-year-old woman was wounded in separate shooting incidents in Cebu City.
Elmer Cabunillas Cañeda was fatally shot by a still-unidentified assailant in sitio Cabancalan Dos, barangay Bulacao around 4 a.m. yesterday.
Police said the killing could be drug-related since the area is known for rampant illegal drug activities.
The victim was slumped on the ground with gunshot wounds in the chest and back when police arrived.
In barangay Calamba, Mary Jane Monida Cabigon was shot by her neighbor following an argument.
Police identified the suspect as Niel Lipogpog, 20.
A 16-year-old boy was also injured after he was hit by a stray bullet in the back.
Police said the two neighbors met on the road in sitio Mahayahay when the woman asked the man to settle his debt.
Police said the two neighbors ended up arguing until the man shot the woman in the thigh.
The victim was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center while Lipogpog remains at large.
