RENOWNED running coach and multi-titled triathlete John Philip Dueñas showed his winning form in running after he dominated the 21-kilometer half marathon of the 5th Saint Ignatius Run at the South Road Properties yesterday.
Dueñas, who is busy preparing for the upcoming Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines, finished the 21k race with a time of one hour, 19 minutes and nine seconds to bag the men’s title.
Dueñas placed second in last year’s Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines’ Filipino elite division.
He is the coach of Southeast Asian Games silver medalist Mary Joy Tabal.
Michael Largo (1:20.12) finished second in the men’s side followed by Kenyan Douglas Mwiti (1:20.31).
Sultan Kudarat’s rising road runner Ruffa Sorongon logged her 13th victory in local foot race this year after dominating the women’s side with a time of 1:36.43.
Jona dela Torre claimed second place with a time of 1:44.39 while April Hernandez completed the top three, clocking 1:45.32.
In the 21k alumni division, the winner was Run For Sight Foundation’s chief Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III (1:41.01).
Elmer Bartolo, who won last Saturday in the HRRAC run (see story in page 30), topped the 12k race with a time of 45:48 while Keisha Mae Delechos claimed the top spot in the distaff side with a time of 50:21.
Joshua Shields and Catherine Angeline Yu topped the 3k race with times of 12:00 and 13:54, respectively.
