Now that they are done with concerns of the weight, its time to get down to serious business. “King” Arthur Villanueva  of the Philippines and his Puerto Rican foe, the former Olympian McJoe Arroyo, lock horns today in a fight with crucial repercussions for the two undefeated warriors.

Villanueva (27-0-0, 14KOs) and Arroyo (16-0-0, 8KOs) will dispute the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) World super flyweight crown at the Don Haskins Convention Center in El Paso, Texas, USA.

The two fighters both tipped the scales at 114.8 lbs. during official weigh-in yesterday to turn on the greenlight for their world title showdown.

This will be Villanueva’s first fight in the US but the 26-year old Bacolod City native said he has shrugged off pressure and pre-fight jitters to make sure he is totally focused on fight night.

Villanueva also co-headlined last year’s Duel in Dubai which will have its most anticipated encore next month, with Genesis Servania ang Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista.

He has trained for two months at the ALA Boxing Gym in Talamban and capped his training camp a few weeks ago at the famed Wildcard Gym in Los Angeles, California under the supervision of his trainer Edito Villamor.

The Arroyo-Villanueva world championship fight is the main support bout of the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr vs Marcos Reyes 10-round super middleweight bout with both fights shown live on SHOWTIME on Saturday, July 18 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. / with philboxing.com
