Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III will fly to Japan today to attend three events in Tokyo City in the next two weeks.

Davide will be back to work on  August 11, Provincial Information Officer Ethel Natera said. Until then, Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale will be acting governor.

The governor will attend the final presentation of Toyo University on potential public-private partnerships with Japanese businessmen.

Benjamin Joseph Yap, head of the provincial investments office, and Capitol Consultant Jing Lachica will be with Davide in the event. Davide will also speak in the 10th International PPP forum.

He will pay a courtesy visit to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President Akihiko Tanaka.

JICA had worked with the provincial government in conducting feasibility studies for development projects in Cebu. Gov. Davide’s wife, Jobel, will be accompanying him in the trip using her personal expenses.

Provincial board members and some mayors will also be flying to Japan to attend the PPP forum.

Among them are PB Members Peter John Calderon and Christopher Baricuatro, authors of the provincial investment code, Jude Thaddeus Durano-Sybico, vice chair of the PB committee on planning and development, Mayor Raymund Joseph Calderon of Samboan, Mayor Liza Marie Durano-Streegan of Sogod, and her husband Richard Streegan.
