MCIAA starts processing triple ISO certification

August 07,2015 - 01:54 PM

The Mactan Cebu-International Airport Authority (MCIAA) has begun its triple International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification process for the Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2008), Occupation Health and Safety Management System (ISO 18001:2007), and the Environment Management System (ISO 14001:2004) this year.

“We’re more than happy to have started our triple ISO accreditation process this year when the MCIAA also marked its 25th Charter Day anniversary. We celebrate this double milestone as part our vision for the Mactan Cebu International Airport to become a major airport hub in the Asia Pacific region,” MCIAA general manager Nigel Paul Villarete said.

According to Villarete, the triple ISO accreditation means the improvement of systems and compliance with regulatory requirements, the creation of the best and safest possible working conditions for airport staff, and the fulfillment of commitments to environmental protection in order to ensure the satisfaction of passengers.

The Mactan-Cebu International Airport is the first and only airport in the Philippines to be issued an Aerodrome Certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, making it one of the safest amidst being the second busiest airport in the country.

Villarete said that MCIAA will continue to inspire, sustain, and optimize beyond its 25th year.

A week-long series of activities highlighted the 25th Charter Day Anniversary of the MCIAA, starting with a Mass at the airport chapel last July 24, followed by a weekend family and wellness day for airport employees at the Sandbar Resort in Cordova town on July 25 and 26, signing of a memorandum of agreement on MCIAA’S corporate social responsibility project called “War on Worms,” awarding of best employees on July 28, turnover of check to the Lapu-Lapu City government on July 29 and tree planting and solidarity lunch activity last July 30 at the mountain barangay of Cantipla, Cebu City.

The celebration culminated on July 31 with an awarding ceremony at the Ayala Terraces in Cebu City.
