Personnel of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) conducted a microtremor survey near the Monterazzas in barangay Guadalupe as part of their efforts to draft a hazard map of Metro Cebu.

“A microtremor survey identifies site response by measuring the ambient vibration on the ground, using portable seismometers,” said Councilor Dave Tumulak, who heads the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CCDRRMC).

Station chief Robinson Giorgio said Phivolcs chose Cebu City as the pilot area for the study and they will include the cites of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.

Baltazar Tribunalo, head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said they will meet with local disaster risk reduction and management officers this Friday to schedule a province-wide earthquake drill.
