Around 700 runners will test their endurance when they compete in today’s Talisay City Marathon starting at the Talisay City Hall.

The fifth edition of the running event year will feature a very challenging course that will bring runners to the mountain barangays of Talisay City such as Manipis, Campinsa, Tapul, Maghaway and Lasang.

Around eight kilometers of the entire 42-kilometer stretch will be along the above mentioned mountain barangays.

The running event is organized by the Talisay City Runners Club (TCRC) with the help of Cebu Ultra Runners Club president Tony Galon, race director Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE) and the Talisay City Sports Commission.

Around 150 runners will join the 42k race while 120 will participate in the 21k distance. The rest will join the shorter distances 10k and 5k.

In light of the tragic incident that happened last Sunday during the R399:Live Your Dream running event where a Canadian runner died in the middle of the run due to cardiac arrest, the organizers are making sure that there will be sufficient medical personnel deployed along the race route. There will also be three ambulances to be stationed in key parts of the route.

The running event is held in line with the 367th founding anniversary of Talisay City.
