Weather is expected to be bright and sunny when the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings start this weekend, the state weather bureau said yesterday.
Engr. Oscar Tabada, Pagasa Visayas Director, said it will be sunny on Saturday although there might be a few light showers on that day.
“We can expect a sunny weather at that time. The temperature will be hot. But there’s still a possibility that we’ll have a few light showers since Typhoon Ineng is expected to be in northern Philippines at that time,” Tabada told reporters.
Since Typhoon Ineng (international name: Goni) will intensify the southwest monsoon or habagat, Tabada said Cebu will experience strong winds and light showers.
No heavy rains are expected, but a gale warning may be issued because the intensified monsoon will cause rough seas.
By Sunday, Tabada said the weather will be sunny.
He said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) will issue a five-day weather forecast advisories, instead of the usual 24-hour advisories, for the duration of the APEC meetings. These will be updated daily.
“These advisories will be sent through the APEC National Organizing Committee so the delegates will have an idea of the weather when they want to go around,” he said. / and Palompon Institute of Technology Intern Jay-Ileen Engalla
