NegOr’s Buglasan Festival set to open

The Buglasan Festival of Negros Oriental is set to be  launched on Oct. 16 with a barrio fiesta celebration dubbed “Fiesta sa Nayon.”

Participating barangays from Dumaguete City and the municipalities of Sibulan, San Jose, Dauin, Valencia will join the grand parade and exhibit indigenous food along the main thoroughfares of Dumaguete.

Each barangay is expected to bring a lechon and other food products which will be  displayed at Freedom Park.
Preparations started as early as last month for this year’s colorful Buglasan Festival, touted as NegOr’s  Festival of Festivals, with more than 100 events lined up for the two-week celebration.

Gov. Roel Degamo said at least 12 local government units will present their own festival during the showdown street dance on Oct. 23.

Negros Oriental Tourism Council chair and Buglasan co-director Nick Elman said the events will be spread out in five venues at Freedom Park, Sidlakang Negros Village, Rizal Boulevard, Macias Sports Center and Robinsons Place.

This year’s Buglasan Festival banners the theme “Building Friendship Worldwide Opening Development and Opportunities.”
