Con artist strikes in Mandaue mall

By: Melissa Q. Cabahug September 05,2015 - 12:55 AM

A 65-YEAR-OLD man fell prey to a con artist who fooled him with  fake money bills.

Jesus Adolfo lost P3,000 to a man, who approached him inside a fast food chain in Pacific Mall in Mandaue City last Wednesday.

Adolfo said he was waiting for his wife when a man approached him and asked to have his two P500 bills changed to a P1,000 bill.

Adolfo obliged. The man returned a few minutes later and asked Adolfo again to  have  four P500 bills changed to two P1,000 bills.

When the man asked again to change another P1,000 bill, Adolfo said he had no more change.

The  man’s wife became suspicious when she learned that her husband didn’t know the man.

The couple then had the P500 bills checked by a mall cashier  and discovered that the bills were fake.

The couple went to the police station where they identified the man in a photo gallery.

Police said this was the same man arrested before for the same offense.

Police did not identify the man pending operations to arrest him.
