Sixteen employees of the Danao City government tested positive for illegal drug use in a surprise drug test yesterday.

The random drug testing was initiated by the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Commission upon the request of the city government.

Joey Herrera, CPADAC executive director, said 195 regular and job-order employees were subjected to the test held at the mayor’s office where employees were asked to gather through a memorandum.

A male job-order employee admitted using illegal drugs last Saturday.

Danao City Mayor Ramon Durano III said he will just wait for the confirmatory test results.

He said that job-order employees confirmed to have used illegal drugs will be automatically removed from service.

Permanent employees, on the other hand, will undergo due process.
