LTO 7 office to move to PIER 1

By: Jose Santino S. Bunachita October 03,2015 - 01:47 AM

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 is preparing to transfer their office at N. Bacalso Ave. to Pier 1 in Cebu City.

But they’re asking the Cebu City Government for a one-month extension to move out.  The city’s earlier demand letter for them to leave the area lapsed yesterday.

City Administrator Lucelle Mercado said some officials from the LTO’s Central Office in Manila  went to her office to appeal for an extension.

“They will be transferring office to the old Post Office in back of Fort San Pedro. But they still have to repair and prepare the area first. They need some cabling for their IT connectivity. By November, they can start moving,” Mercado said.

LTO assistant secretary Alfonso Tan, LTO administrative division chief Maribel Salazar and LTO officer-in-charge for intelligence and investigation division  Mercy Jane Paras-Leynes visited her office.

Mercado said the LTO’s request will be sent to Mayor Michael Rama.

Sought for comment, Rama said he will have to recheck the request since the transfer   “is overdue.”

Rama said the city government wants to use the office site of  LTO-7  for the extension of the “temporary-permanent” operations of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).

Aside from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) 7 building, the CCMC also occupies the old office of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO).
