AT LEAST six security cameras will be installed in Catholic cemeteries in barangays Calamba, Pardo, Mabolo and Carreta of Cebu city in time for the Day of All Saints and All Souls.
The security cameras are on loan from various suppliers as part of their corporate social responsibility, said Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, chief of the Cebu City’s Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council (CCDRRMC).
Yesterday, the council conducted a path profiling to test the signal strength of each security camera.
Cebu City Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella said they are expecting crowds to start gathering in major cemeteries on Oct. 30, a Friday.
Labella said a meeting between the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and barangay officials to discuss security preparations has been scheduled.
“We are also going to have a meeting with the Police Coordinating and Advisory Council (PCAC) this Friday for other matters,” said the acting mayor.
Also on Friday, the CCDRRMC will start deploying barangay tanods and security guards in major cemeteries.
“We are still coordinating with the CCPO on the number of policemen to be deployed in each cemetery,” Tumulak said.
Portable toilets and drinking stations will also be stationed inside the cemeteries.
