iHome: Sponsor a house for poor Dumagueteños

By: PR October 28,2015 - 02:36 AM

The iHome Metro Dumaguete called on business institutions and individuals to sponsor a house or donate materials or cash for the construction of 10 low-cost houses for poor families in an iHome House Blitz 2015 on Nov. 7-14 in barangay Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City.

Integrated Home of Mass Endeavor or iHome-Metro Dumaguete Inc., formerly Habitat for Humanity, chair Greg Uymatiao Jr. said the week-long event will gather about 150 volunteers who will undertake the construction of the 10 houses.

Uymatiao said the house blitz will build simple, decent and affordable houses in partnership with the beneficiaries.

Uymatiao requested business institutions to participate in the noble activity as part of their corporate social responsibility.

He said donors and volunteers are welcome to assist the volunteers in  carpentry and masonry works, including the laying of hollow blocks for walling, among others.

“Corporations, local businesses, schools, faith-based groups and other organizations can sponsor a house,” iHome board of trustees member Engr. Jose Quiambao said.

So far, the donors who committed to donate a house each are Bian Yek, Ramas-Uypitching Sons Inc. (RUSI), Aldea Homes, Katrina Perdices (daughter of the late Mayor Agustin Perdices), Engr. Greg Uymatiao Jr. and Lee Super Plaza.

“iHome will continue to build houses to fulfill its mission and vision to provide homes to the homeless and build 2,000 houses by year 2020,” Engr. Uymatiao said.
