SUPER Metro is collaborating with the Cebu Football Association for the staging of the 4th Sinulog Cup Football Festival on Jan. 11 and 12 at the San Roque Parish Field and the Aboitiz Sports Field both in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
This is the biggest sponsorship that Super Metro has given to football and this early, the chain of department stores and supermarkets has promised an even bigger event next year.
A total of 168 teams are seeing action in the tournament this year, said Gregorio Balsicas III of the organizing committee. He said that this is fewer than last year’s entries as several schools could not field teams due to the make-up classes on Saturdays brought about by the class suspensions after the earthquake and supertyphoon late in 2013.
Games set this Saturday at the Aboitiz Sports Field will be those for U7 Mixed, U9 Mixed, U11 Mixed, U15 Girls, and U18 Girls.
Over at the San Roque Parish Field will be the games for U18 Boys, U15 Boys, and U13 Boys.
This will be a seven-a-side event. Games will start at 7:30 a.m. on both venues on both days.
On Sunday, the Aboitiz Sports Field will host the Men’s Open with 25 teams competing while the San Roque Parish Field will host the Inter-BPO, Inter-Company, ladies Open, and the 38 and above category.
At stake for the winners of the different age groups and categories will be trophies for the teams and medals for the players.
Also supporting the tournament are Aboitiz Land, Aboitiz Sports Field, Noise Garage, and Dakay Construction and Development Corporation. /fullpointcebu
