A 35-year-old woman was killed after she was thrown off a motorcycle in a collision with another motorbike in Lapu-Lapu City past 10 p.m. Saturday.
Police said Fe Casallas was the backrider of a motorcycle driven by her husband, Wilson, 33.
Both of them fell on the road along with the driver of the oncoming motorcycle, which swerved to their lane in M.L. Quezon Highway in barangay Buaya.
The two male drivers were seriously injured.
Police may be calling former mayor Tomas Osmeña and his driver to shed light on the accident as their vehicle was at the site.
The Casallas couple were heading home to barangay Buaya when the accident occurred. The motorcycle driven by Danny Igot, 45, of barangay Mactan, overtook another vehicle and encroached on the opposite lane, slamming the Cassalas’ motorbike.
In a phone interview, Osmeña said he and his driver noticed the accident when a person was suddenly thrown in front of their vehicle’s headlight. When they alighted, they found a woman sprawled on the ground behind their path.
Paramedics arrived and brought her to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital where she was declared dead.
Osmeña was seen on the road guiding traffic after the mishap. He stayed until the injured were taken to the hospital but was no longer there when police arrived.
The two motorcycle drivers were treated at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
