This in a nutshell is the message of Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) chief Edward Hayco who is also the overall chairman of the upcoming Batang Pinoy National Finals-Philippine Youth
National Games to the members of the organizing and officiating committee in a meeting at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.
The meeting was also attended by BP Commissioner Tony Del Prado.
The BP National Finals will run from Nov. 27 to Dec. 2 where 17 of the 27 events will be hosted by Cebu City while Mandaue City and Danao City will co-host the meet with four events each.
“We need to provide the athletes a meaningful and memorable experience here in Cebu that’s why we have to set our standards high, we won’t settle for an average hosting so that they will leave Cebu with a lot of good memories,” said Hayco.
Also present during the meeting were DepEd officials, sports coordinators, officials from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Cebu Provincial Sports Commission, PNP Region VII, Cebu City Traffic Operations (CCTO), Danao City and Mandaue City representatives, Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) and Cebu City Local School Board officials.
Danao City and Mandaue City representatives said they are almost 100 percent ready for the national meet.
Hayco also reminded the officials to be always courteous to the expected 5,000 visiting athletes. “Be information friendly to the delegates. If they ask questions please share information. Let us help each other because the success of one is the success of all. It’s like a domino effect.”
EXTRAVAGANT OPENING, CLOSING
Meanwhile, Ricky Ballesteros, who was tapped to supervise the opening and closing ceremonies, said that the competing athletes will be treated with a world class presentation from Cebu’s renowned dance troupes numbering 5,000 with “I love Cebu, I Love Philippines” as theme. “The parade will start at the Fuente Osmeña circle all the way to CCSC. There will be various programs featuring the Sinulog Idols and different chorales while the parade is ongoing,” said Ballesteros.
SEA Games women’s marathon silver medalist Mary Joy Tabal will light the urn during the Games’ opening. She will be joined by students of her running grassroots development program.
International table tennis referee Jessica Honoridez will do the Oath of Coaches while Del Prado is tasked to lead the Oath of Officials.
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richie Garcia will deliver a message during the opening as well as the three mayors of the host cities.
