Businessman charged with wife Agnelen’s murder
Police yesterday filed parricide charges against Cebu businessman Wayne Christopher Uy for the death of his wife Agnelen, whose body was found in the family car parked in a dark street in Mabolo, Cebu City last month.
Homicide investigators presented closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to show that Uy orchestrated the crime and lied when he reported that his wife was kidnapped and their car seized by armed men around 7 p.m. of October 28 in the North Reclamation Area.

Two aides Celestino Abataya Jr. and Joel Acot were included in the complaint filed with the Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office as well as two unidentified men.
Uy and the four others are all free at this point. They will be asked to submit counter-affidavits to refute the charges.
The body of 31-year-old Agnelen Ego-ogan Uy was found with a gunshot wound in the nape and her feet tied with duct tape inside a green Kia Picanto sean. The car was discovered on Almendras St. at dawn of Oct. 29.
Renato Cortez, one of Uy’s aides, narrated in a sworn statement how the businessman stopped his wife’s vehicle inside Urban Deca Homes in Tipolo, Mandaue City, and tied the woman’s feet with duct tape on Oct. 28.
The head guard of Urban Deca Homes, Leonilo Flores, also testified that Uy used a stun gun on his wife during a confrontation inside their car on the same day.
Uy earlier told police that he was driving the car with his wife as passenger to discuss a pending case of annulment of their marriage, which he had filed.

He said two men on a motorcycle blocked their way at the back of S & R Membership Shopping Store in Mandaue City at 7 p.m. last Oct. 28.
He said he was made to get out at gunpoint and that the car was driven away by the gunmen with Agnelen still inside.
Uy reported the “kidnapping” to the police about three hours later.

His account didn’t jive with CCTV footage. Police said CCTV video taken along Almendras Street showed that the green sedan arrived at 5:46 p.m. last Oct. 28 and parked.
Another CCTV footage from an establishment at the North Reclamation Area showed that the car was “slowly” traversing the road behind S & R between 5:09 p.m. and 5:18 p.m. last Oct. 28.
A third video clip from the Mandaue City Command Center’s CCTV on the same day showed the same vehicle passing S & R Membership Shopping Store at 5:41 p.m. A man was seen getting out of the car and flagging a taxicab to ride.
Police traced the taxi driver, Gerardo Janson, who confirmed Uy’s identity in the camera footage and a photo.
The driver said he remembered the Chinese looking passenger who wore dark pants and polo shirt and work eyeglasses.

“Going over the video footage, it was established that Wayne had orchestrated and made apparent lies when he claimed that his vehicle was carnapped and his estranged wife was kidnapped,” said the police investigators’ joint affidavit.
In their affidavit, Agnelen’s parents Guadalupe and Cordencita Ego-ogan said Uy’s relationship with their daughter was an “abnormal, off and on status.”
“We also know for a fact that they always quarreled, resulting to physical violence even before their early years of marriage way back in 2008,” the parents said.
They said their daughter once filed a complaint for domestic violance against Uy with the San Nicolas Police Station in Cebu City.
“There were also instances when Wayne threatened to kill Agnelen because of unreasonable jealousy,” they said.
“We are seeking justice for Agnelen’s death. We strongly believe that he is responsible for Agnelen’s death,” the parents said.
