Cebu Prov. rules PNG taekwondo

Taekwondo jins from Cebu Province collected 18 medals including 12 golds on Friday to rule the taekwondo event in the Philippine National Games-Visayas Elimination in Antique.

Cebu Province also had four silvers and two bronzes, relegating the cities of  Iloilo and Cebu to the second and third spots, respectively.

Kissha Barro, Melody Jane Infante, Mayn Coran, Veronica Garces, Angelica Torremocha, Ma. Carmela Coran, Aila Marie Lepon and Andrea Toleroso won gold medals for Team Cebu Province in the women’s division while Kirk Labiste, Dominic Sator, Michael Boncales and Abdali Capal joined them in the men’s division.

Meanwhile, Ellen Villacarlos, John Sedullo, Charlene Boncales and Zoren Prajes are Team Cebu’s silver medalists while Abdani Capal and Niel Seares won a bronze each.

The Cebu City Niños, finished third overall with eight golds, four silvers and one bronze medal.

Despite finishing behind Iloilo City, SWU head coach Raul Luna said that he is satisfied with Cebu City’s performance this year than in the previous editions of the PNG.

“Mas nindot among performance karon compared before,” Luna said.

Benedict Suico of the University of San Carlos captured the gold medal in the Senior Men’s Fin division while Flyweight John Paul Tomarse of the RPower Taekwondo Club also ruled in the same division.

Cebu City’s other gold medal winners are John Loi Gara of Southwestern University in the Middle Men’s Seniors and Micah Marie Mission of the University of San Jose-Recoletos in the Junior Women’s light-middle division.

SWU’s Bon Quijano, USC’s David Labiste and Welter Flores, and UC’s Loralee Navales won silver medals while USJ-R’s Francis Reyes won the lone bronze for the Niños.
