Possible super typhoon may enter PAR Wednesday, says Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau announced on Friday that an offshore typhoon (Typhoon Bavi) is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by next Wednesday.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz–Galicia in a 5 p.m. forecast, Typhoon Bavi is projected to intensify over the coming days due to favorable environmental conditions.
“It may enter our area of responsibility by Wednesday. Once it enters the PAR, it will be named tropical cyclone Inday,” De La Cruz – Galicia said.

Typhoon Bavi
She shared that Typhoon Bavi was last spotted 3,190 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas as of 3 p.m. It was carrying a maximum wind speed of 150 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 185 kph.
“There is a big chance that it moves closer to Northern Luzon and because of that, it is likely for Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal to be raised over major parts of Northern Luzon and other areas in Central Luzon,” she added.
She then said that the enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat is being monitored as it is expected to bring widespread rainshowers over a huge part of the country next week.
She also said that as the tropical cyclone is still far from the Philippine landmass, the state weather bureau is still considering uncertainty and high chances of significant changes.
