Cebu city workers to get cash bonus

The year-end bonus and a P2,500 cash gift will be released soon to about 5,000 Cebu City government employees, even as they wait for the City Council to act on their Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI).

City Hall’s  4,948 regular and casual employees will receive the remaining half of their  13th month pay and a  P2,500  cash gift.

City Budget Officer Marietta Gumia said the city already set aside P38 million and P12.3 million for the year-end bonus and a P5,000 cash gift in the annual budget.

Last May, the city  released the first half of the bonus and cash gift.

City Treasurer Diwa Cuevas said they started processing the payroll for this yesterday. Departments that submit their payrolls early will get first priority in release.

“That has to be processed. There’s no stopping for that. It’s a contractual obligation so it has to be released. If it has to be tomorrow, release tomorrow,” Mayor Michael Rama told reporters yesterday.

A circular of the Department of Budget and Management dated November 9 said the bonus and cash gift should  be released not earlier than November 15.
