A SLOVENIAN national was arrested on suspicion that he was involved in hacking credit cards last Thursday night.

At least 23 credit cards bearing different names were recovered from the possession of Denis Sandik, 26.

Sandik temporarily lives in barangay Sambag Uno. He arrived in the country in 2008.

The  management of an uptown mall in Cebu City contacted the police after seeing Sandik use various credit cards to pay for items he bought in a boutique.

Supt. Romeo Santander said that  Sandik also withdrew cash from an  ATM using the same cards.

Sandik refused to comment when reporters tried to interview him.

Santander, chief of the City Intelligence Branch, said the Slovenian told investigators that he was able to make unauthorized transactions because of the weak security features of some ATMs in the country.

Santander said they will check if Sandik is part of the group of Romanian nationals who were earlier arrested for the same offense.

Sandik will be charged for violation of the Access Devices Regulation Act or Republic Act 8484.
