CY Boys All Stars outlast Originals to top Randall Christmas League hoop
THE CY Boys All Stars of Manny “Earl” Ching displayed remarkable resiliency in beating Team Originals of Christopher Rey Caruana, 94-87, and bag the championship crown of the recent Homeboys Basketball 2nd Randall Cup 2015 Christmas League at the Cebu Eastern Collage (CEC) lower court.
The champion team struggled early and trailed by 12 points going to the final quarter but woke up in the most opportune time with Gil dela Cerna leading the team’s mighty comeback.
Dela Cerna went on to lead CY Boys with 28 points, putting up a solid performance that netted him the season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Jake Diamante paced Team Original with 22 markers.
Meanwhile, Team Aldub of Wilfredo Sarmiento took home the third place crown with a tight, 78-75 win over Alce/Jetz of Anthony Alce.
The tournament is held annually in memory of league founder Randall Joseph Prado.
