WITH Christmas Day just two days away, it’s crunch time for holiday get-togethers. And every friend and family gathering is never complete without a “groufie,” also known as “wefie.” We all love taking photos with our friends and family and posting them real-time on our social media accounts. For some, a party or gathering never happened if a photo wasn’t taken.
Here are a few suggestions on where you can take great groufie photos this yuletide season:
Fuente Circle
Right after dinner at famous food spots around Fuente Circle like Larsian or other restaurants surrounding the popular Cebu City roundabout, drop by the park where you can find the metro’s tallest Christmas tree for a snap or two with family and barkada.
Hotel lobbies
Head to any hotel lobby and you’ll most likely spot a Christmas tree at the corner or its center. A few captures with family and friends after your hotel dinner at the tree would be a great keepsake.
Malls
Most of the malls around the metro have yuletide trimmings all over their hallways and promenades. Probably the most common place where everyone would take selfies and groufies, the mall also provides a good lighting for
picture-taking.
The Cebu City highlands
Get ready with your Christmas sweatshirts and drive up the hilly terrain of Busay or as far as Balamban where fresh pine trees abound. The cool breeze and the pine trees set the holiday mood for a great groufie shot.
Olympic-size ice skating rink
The only place in the metro that would make us feel like it’s winter all-year-round is another perfect place for a holiday groufie or selfie.
GET THAT PERFECT SHOT!
LOVE taking selfies or groufies but still clueless how to capture better shots? Here are a few tips on how to
improve on taking selfie and groufie shots; plus, some suggestions on how to add a festive feel to them.
1. Good lighting is essential. In mobile photography, lighting is very important. It concludes the tone, mood and atmosphere of your snapshot. Capturing selfies or groufies at night does not only produce dark photos, but also noisy and grainy picture quality. Thus, it is advisable to take selfies or groufies during the day when there is enough light, or at a spot where there is a good source of light to highlight the subject/s.
2. Shoot from different angles and balance composition. The horizontal and vertical balance of your photo would depend on the angle that you shoot from. From what I have observed, many Instagram-users prefer having perfectly aligned photo composition, both vertically and horizontally. Shots taken at a tilted angle produce interesting pictures as well.
3. Wear holiday novelty outfits. To make your gatherings all the more fun and festive, don Christmas-themed outfits or accessories. Reindeer bands and Santa hats, anyone?
4. Add filters and adjust warmth. If you are a VSCO app user, you can choose filter A6 and turn down the “warmth.” Also, you can edit photos directly on Instagram; use Clarendon filter and adjust the warmth.
