Two major tennis events set in Cebu next month
AFTER the success of the Palawan Pawnshop – Palawan Express Pera Padala (PPS-PEPP) tennis competition last week, Cebuano tennis afficionados are set to open 2016 with a bang as they witness the best local netters in the country vie for supremacy this January.
The country’s newest tennis league which is Peugeot Philippine Tennis Open Regional Qualifiers (PPTO) will be held in Cebu this Jan. 9 to 15 at the Cebu Country Club.
It can be recalled that Cebuanos Sally Mae and Bernardine Siso, Janji Soquino dominated the first two legs of the PPS-PEPP tournament, giving them an outright berth in the National Finals, which is scheduled on March 14 to 20.
Aside from the PPTO, Cebuana Lhuillier will also bring tennis fever to the Queen City of the South as they celebrate their 10th year anniversary at the CitiGreen Tennis Resort Cebu on Jan. 22 to 26.
Cebuana Lhuillier, a group project of Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) chairman Jean Henri D. Lhuillier, began organizing tennis competitions in 2006.
The participants will receive a limited edition tournament T-shirt and partake of a buffet fellowship dinner on the opening night of the competition.
