3 motorcycles collide in Tabogon

A man was killed while 10 others were injured in a three-motorcycle crash last Sunday in barangay Pio, Tabogon town in northern Cebu.

Emerson Cardinio, 23, of Tabogon died of severe head injuries when he was thrown on the pavement.

He was driving one of the motorcycles.

His girlfriend Ranny Saladaga, 23, is confined in a hospital in serious condition.

According to police investigation, Cardinio and his girlfriend were heading home after attending a Christmas party.

He drove at a fast clip, then lost control of the motorcycle and encroached on the opposite lane.

The vehicle crashed into a second motorcycle driven by Lodimito Comedido, 55, a motorcycle-for-hire driver, and a the motorcycle behind him driven by Jose Pogio, 55.

It was not yet established whether Cardinio was under the influence of of liquor when he was driving.

Other accident victims were brought to the Sogod district hospital and later transferred to a Cebu City hospital where they were released.

Only Pogio, who suffered body injuries, and Saladaga remain confined at the hospital.

The other five injured include the two motorcycle drivers, their passengers and pedestrians.

Comedido’s two passengers were Felnie Lobiano, 46, and her daughter Cyril, 12 of barangay Pio.

Pogio was driving a motorcycle with his wife Epifania, 50, in the back seat.

They came from barangay Muabog.

Four pedestrians were injured in the accident.

They were identified as Roselyn Panugalinog, 27; Leah Booc, 30, who is a public school teacher of the City of Naga; Aldrina Monares, 18; and Analee Abilong, 35, of barangay Muabog.
