A tricycle driver died after he was hit by a speeding delivery van in barangay Coro, Dalaguete town, southern Cebu Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the  victim Fernando Villahermosa Jr. suddenly  drove his  tricycle across the road  when the accident took place.

He signaled that he was going left but instead crossed the road without  warning, said SPO1 Job Sarveda, desk officer.

He was hit by a  Nature’s Spring delivery van.  The van driver, Allan Calma, 26, of Argao town, told the police that he tried to avoid the tricycle but couldn’t maneuver away in time.

Villahermosa was thrown a few meters away by the impact. He died of severe head injuries at the Julio Cardinal Rosales Memorial Hospital.

The van was on its way back to Cebu City after delivering bottled water in Dalaguete.

The van driver surrendered to the  police station.
