There were fewers cases of drug use among local government employees in Cebu province this year, said the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Commission (CPADAC).

There were 48  cases among LGU  employees and 11 cases in the provincial offices compared to last year’s tally of 92 and 33, said Alberto Herrera Jr., CPADAC executive director.

Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said he wants the workforce in the province to be drug-free.

“They should not take this very lightly because we are serious in our campaign against drugs,” he said.

He said that the decision of  whether regular and casual employees who tested positive can still work for the province will depend on the evaluation of the Capitol’s Committee on Discipline and Investigation.

However, job order (JO) employees will be automatically dropped if they are found to be drug users.
