IT’S all systems go for the second annual Mactan Speed50 Ultramarathon with 43 participants waging war on the streets of Lapu Lapu City on January 30.
The race will kick off at 10 p.m. in the Lapu Lapu City Hall grounds, proceed to Brgy. Punta Engano to the municipality of Cordova and finish at the Lapu Lapu City Hall.
A few names on the list are defending champion Desederio Engbino of Bohol who finished the 260-kilometer race last year in 3 hours, 55 minutes and 41 seconds and Cebuano ultra-runners Edilberto Batiancila and Tony Galon.
The event, which aims to promote sports and eco-tourism, has seven different categories namely the men’s and women’s divisions, 19-under, 20-29 years old, 30-39, 40-49 and the 50-59 categories.
The top three winners in the men’s and women’s divisions will go home with podium plaques, medals and trophies while the best three in the age group divisions will receive trophies.
