A SALVO of cheers to Islands Souvenirs for staging the “Cut and Style” fashion show, its fourth outing in time for this year’s Sinulog celebrations, last Jan. 15 at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu.
Guests and a huge mall crowd were treated to an afternoon of style and colorful performances by Teacher Georcelle of G-Force and Yeng Constantino, this year’s brand ambassadresses. With this year’s “Pop Art” theme, Islands Souvenirs teamed up with Cebuano fashion designer Kate Torralba for an exclusive unveiling of her capsule collection.
Fun, quirky and chic. Clothes that resonate a festive and playful vibe. Pieces that warrant and demand attention at first glance but not verging on costume.
The collection proves that there are no limits to one’s imagination, with the help of a pair of good scissors, of course. Cebu’s top models, beauty queens and various personalities showed off different ways of wearing and styling a shirt to match their equally distinct personas.
In this part of the South, we definitely take chopping up shirts seriously. During the Sinulog season (in more recent times) it has been customary, a right of passage if you will, for locals and tourists alike to engage in a T-shirt cutting ritual for the total festival experience.
Nothing says “Pit Senyor” quite like a personalized shirt from Islands Souvenirs.
“Cut and Style” has showcased the most inventive and innovative ways to turn a basic shirt into wearable art. Webs, knits, knots, braids, fringe, and various embellishment options… “Cut and Style” is a tradition that’s going to keep getting bigger and better each year.
