Waterpark opening moved to mid-March
THE opening of Skywaterpark on top of J Centre Mall has been moved to mid- or late March this year, in time for the summer break from school.
The waterpark, which occupies about 4,500 square meters of the mall’s roof deck, is being built by Korea-based DSNP Corporation (Dae Dong Stone Eng. Co. Ltd.).
Marketing director Bing Torre said it is the first of its kind in the country. “It’s somewhere people can go to if they want the resort feel but not the sand or the long travel to resorts,” she said. The facility is positioned to become a primary urban destination for families and foreign travelers, she added. Amenities include a children’s pool, an adult pool, pool bar, and spa and salon.
The children’s pool comes with a water curtain and gigantic slide feature spanning some 12 meters high.
The adult pool, which is shaped like a guitar to symbolize the Cebuano’s love for music, has an island in the middle and stretches out on one side to form an infinity pool.
The bar and dining area can be used for dinner shows and other events.
The facility provides a panoramic view of Mandaue’s skyline.
“Up here, you won’t feel the stress of the city life and the hustle and bustle. We’re trying to make it so you really feel relaxed,” Torre said.
The waterpark can be accessed through the Tokyo Inn Hotel, a 583-room hotel managed by Japanese hotel business chain Tokyo Inn next to J. Centre Mall.
“It’s closer to Cebu City than a lot of other resorts, so if you want the feel of a resort but don’t want to have to travel very far, this would be the ideal place to go,” she said.
Torre said they were offering three membership packages – premium plus (individual membership), premium (family extension membership) and executive class (corporate membership package).
All membership packages are currently on promotion until March this year, at P20,000/15 months for premium plus, P10,000/15 months for premium and P35,000/15 months for executive class. The walk-in rates have not been finalized.
