To stay ahead of the competition, Sony targets to come up with new mobile phones at least twice a year.
New releases are also expected for other products under the company, including television and sound systems.
Nobuyoshi Otake, Sony Philippines, Inc. president and managing director, said they are looking at “becoming the number one technology company in the Philippines.”
“The Philippines is quite vivid in the growing market for technology. Now we are doing increasing competition in electronics with other Japanese, Chinese, and Korean companies,” Otake said during the opening of a new Sony Centre at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
He said the Philippines is one of Sony’s fastest growing markets in the Southeast Asian region.
The new Sony Centre, which is the biggest experiential center in the Philippines at 200 square meters, features the complete product line of Sony. Customers can go to the center to test out the products.
Otake said the opening of the biggest center here shows the company’s growing confidence in Cebu as well as in the Visayas and Mindanao.
“Cebu is a potential market to for us to grow in,” he added.
Alvin de Vera, Sony Philippines senior director of the brand and customer communication division, said competition has become stiffer due to a wider range of options in the market.
