Childlink presents The White Shoes

In its thrust to uplift its embedded cardinal virtues, Childlink Learning Center will round out its 15th value-based theater with an adaptation of Grace D. Chong’s  award winning short story, The White Shoes.

Inspired by a real-life experience, the play promotes the value of perseverance in achieving genuine success, which is all about making the most of what one has been blessed with, and being thankful for it all.

It tells the story of a poor girl named Eva who happened to be graduating as the class valedictorian. Her graduating class was required to wear white shoes on graduation day. The trouble was, she only had one pair of shoes, and it was black. Eva whose family had barely enough money to buy a new pair of shoes decided not to attend the graduation ceremony anymore. However, her mother wouldn’t hear of it, especially because Eva was graduating with honors. With resourcefulness, they were able to create a pair of white shoes, without spending a single cent. On graduation day, something terrible happened which made Eva wanted to disappear from the people’s sight.

The White Shoes won the first prize in the Short Story for Children category of the 2011 Palanca Awards for Literature.

This must-watch play features the students from all levels of Childlink Learning Center as they will unleash their acting prowess. The play will take place on February 21 at the University of San Carlos Cultural Center. There will be two shows, the Matinee 10:00 AM and the Gala 6:00 PM. Tickets are P250.
