Police operations net P460K drugs
AROUND P460,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in two separate police operations in Cebu City.
Sawang Calero police operatives arrested 34-year-old Janus Castro Rosacena of Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Calamba on Wednesday evening.
Some 263 packs of suspected shabu worth around P450,000 were seized from his possession.
Police said they were conducting a roving patrol in the area when they noticed that Rosacena was talking to another person and pulled out something from his belt bag, which turned out to be shabu. They immediately arrested Rosacena.
In another operation, a man was arrested with 21 ampules of Nubain valued at around P3,000 at a checkpoint conducted by the Cebu City Public Safety Company at past 11 p.m. on Wednesday.
Ruben Payot Romagos, 41, a resident of Salinas Diver Extension, Lahug, Cebu City, was arrested by the team of Insp. Roy Manguilimotan who headed the Comelec-supervised checkpoint along V. Rama St. and corner Lucio Drive, Calamba in Cebu City.
Romagos was driving his motorcycle when he was stopped by the policemen.
The police found nothing when he was told to open the U-box of his motorcycle. However, he still acted suspiciously, prompting the police to ask him to also open his small bag that contained ampules of Nubain.
Romagos admitted that he bought the Nubain from Junquera and was supposed to deliver it to Inayawan.
Romagos said he did it because he has no other job since he just finished second year high school.
