LIBERAL Party candidates in Carcar City skipped a covenant signing organized by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Carcar City Police Office at the Carcar City gym Monday.

Msgr. Carlito Puno, Carcar City parish priest who administered the candidates oath ahead of the covenant signing, said he was saddened by the absence of the LP candidates led by Provincial Board (PB) Member and mayoral candidate Raul Alcoseba in the activity.

Alcoseba said he already told the Carcar City police that he won’t be able to attend the covenant signing because he will attend the PB session this morning. About four mayoral candidates are running in Carcar City located 39.1 kilometers south of Cebu City. Aside from Alcoseba, the other candidates are incumbent Mayor Nicepuro Apura of the Alayon-Nacionalista Party and independent candidates Vicente Balberonia Jr. And Agustin Sollano Jr.

Acting Carcar City Election Officer Arthur Patiga said the covenant signing seeks to ensure commitment from the mayoral candidates for peaceful, transparent and honest elections.
