About 10,000 women from Cebu City’s barangays pledged their support to Bando Osmena Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) in a gathering held at the Cebu Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.

In turn, members of the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (Kalipi) also made BO-PK candidates led by former mayor Tomas Osmena commit their support to pro-women advocacies if elected to office.

Before the gathering ended, both parties entered into a covenant to seal their agreement.

“We, the Bando Osmena Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) and Cebu City KALIPI are strongly committed to promote and advance the total well-being of all women in the City of Cebu and ensure their human dignity, economic empowerment and access to justice by providing timely services including social, political, economic and legal,” read the covenant which they signed.

In a message, Osmena thanked Kalipi members for their commitment of support while he promised to stop “inhumane demolitions” affecting women and children if elected mayor.
