Mall worker killed, three others wounded in Lapu shooting

A MALL worker was killed while three others including a pregnant woman were wounded after they were shot by unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen along the Hangar Road in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City at 11:30 pm last Tuesday.

Leo Amason, a 31-year-old sales clerk of Gaisano Grand Mall and a resident of barangay Iba, Basak died at the Mactan Doctors Hospital due to a gunshot wound at the back.

The wounded victims identified as Renato Alindahao Aballe, a 20-year-old utility clerk of Gaisano Grand Mall, Jennifer Apat Galleos, 22 of Sitio Kalubihan, Marigondon and tricycle driver Locaman Tawo-Tawo Dealangan of Sudtunggan, Lapu-Lapu City were all brought to the same hospital.

Dealangan and Aballe were later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Senior Insp. Zenaido Pastorfide, Lapu-Lapu City homicide section chief, said Amason and Aballe rode in a tricycle while Galleos rode in the second tricycle driven by Dealangan.

The assailants followed Dealangan and shot his tricycle, with some of the bullets also hitting the two mall workers.

Police are still verifying the motive behind the attack.
