The fire started in the house owned by couple Henry and Helen Deneay.

The couple sustained minor burns in different parts of their bodies after they tried to put out the fire while  waiting for  fire fighters to arrive.

SFO4 Roylin Maratas, chief investigator of the Cebu City Fire Station, said the couple’s 12-year-old son saw some sparks coming from an electric wire in the ceiling.

Flames then started to engulf the house.

Neighbors helped in trying to put out the fire which spread to neighboring houses before it was put out at 9:35 a.m.
