NINE persons were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Cebu and Lapu-Lapu cities yesterday.

In Duljo Fatima, Cebu City, police raided a house that they suspected to be a drug den and caught five persons using shabu there.

Those arrested were John Rey Dacalos, 23; Nerbie Calma, 29; Roy Niones, 23; Junmark Enriquez, 29;  and Joy Estoce, 39, said a report released by the  Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Central Visayas (CIDG-7).

They were caught with sachets of suspected shabu and drug-sniffing paraphernalia. Nora Bacus, the target of the police raid and the owner of the house, however, escaped.

But police confiscated several packs of suspected shabu and a K-9 pistol was found inside Bacus house. The suspects were detained at the detention cell of the Cebu City Police Office pending the filing of charges.

In Barangay Kalawisan, Lapu-Lapu City, on the same day, police arrested four persons including a man on the city police’s drug watchlist,  during a buy-bust operation.

Senior Insp. Jaime Tolentino of the Lapu-Lapu City police identified them as  Jerome Berame, 49; Carli Martin Lubrain, 29; Ronel Berdin, 25; and Clifford Henson, 24.

Police confiscated 19 sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia from the suspects, who were detained at the Lapu-Lapu police station pending the filing of charges. Berame will be charged with selling drugs.
