Region 7 took off to a hot start in the Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) National Meet yesterday at the South Cotabato Sports Complex in Koronadal City.

Michael Ichiro Kong led the way as he hauled in two gold medals by topping the 200-meter butterfly and 400m Individual Medley (IM) events in the 17-and-over swimming.

His efforts helped Region 7 stay in second place in the partial medal count in swimming with eight golds, five silvers and two bronze medals.  Region 6 currently leads the pack with 9 golds, 10 silvers and eight bronze medals.

The swimming competition will continue today and will end tomorrow.

In men’s volleyball, team Prisaa-7, led by Southwestern University (SWU) stalwarts, trounced Region 10, 21-12, 21-13, to advance to the next round of the competition.

The Lady Cobras also contributed after defeating Region 5, 26-24, 25-14, 25-16, to also advance to the next round.
